Family Fun Fest – Saturday, September 12th!

  • Pack

Hello, Scouting Families!

Don’t miss the Cub Scout Family Fun Fest on Saturday, September 12th starting at 11 am.  It’s a virtual festival with all kinds of fun activities – of which the main event is a national Pinewood Derby contest.  This is no passive, watch-other-people-on-TV event – it’s completely interactive and hands-on.  It’s something fun to do on a Saturday, and best of all it’s FREE!!!

You’ll:
  • Make your own constellation projector using household items!
  • Watch archery demos and craft your own archery quiver!
  • Create mucus at home!  Yaaaayyyyy!
  • Learn to yell like a pro!  Lucky parents!!!
  • and lots of other fun activities – so fun that this may even rival Summer Scouts!
There will be tons of prizes and giveaways all day long – you’ll be automatically entered when you sign up.

If you’re interested in the national Pinewood Derby, you can purchase a pinewood kit from the Scout Shop on Keswick Road for about $8.  For those not familiar, the pinewood kit comes as a block of pine wood which you shape into a car and decorate.  Wheels and axles are included.  There is a TON of info online about how to build your car for maximum speed.  For this Derby, you send in your creation and you can watch it race live on the 12th!  Just a little warning: cars are discarded after the race, so don’t send in that prized racer that you have sitting on your shelf.

Sounds like great fun on a Saturday at home, right?   What a great start to the scouting year!

Hope to see you there!

Yours in Scouting,

Cubmaster Matt
